A message from President Amit Chakma

Western makes a difference by developing tomorrow’s leaders—global citizens who embrace their responsibility to make the world a better place. We are proud of our reputation of providing the best student experience among Canada’s leading research universities, and the time has come for more global aspirations.

I arrived as Western’s new President and Vice-Chancellor in July 2009, just as the university was preparing for the public phase of an ambitious $500-million fundraising campaign, underway since May 2007. My timing could not have been better. Following a detailed review of our teaching and research strengths, Western is now fully embarked on a campaign that provides a world of opportunities for donors to help our students, faculty and staff pursue their passions in a wide range of disciplines.
